Attorney in Southlake, Westlake, and Roanoke, TX - The Law Office of Dana L. White

LET DANA HELP YOU FIND YOUR PLAN!  Dana believes that knowledge & preparation is the key to any legal outcome whether that means drafting the correct contract, finding answers in discovery or having informed clients.

Dana has both a compassionate and no-nonsense approach in her practice of family law. Her paramount mission and motto in the representation of clients is “protecting what matters most.” Because her aim is based upon each client’s subjective perspective, her approach dictates a customized, personalized process driven by each client’s unique circumstances.

Dana earned a B.A. Degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington.  After relocating to Washington State, she received a Juris Doctor Degree from Seattle University in 1994. She practiced law in Seattle, Washington for over seven years where she was a member of the King County Bar Association. While in Washington, Dana gave countless hours of her time volunteering at the King County neighborhood legal clinics.

In 2002, Dana relocated with her family back to her home state of Texas.  She was born in Tarrant County, Texas so she was glad to come back to her home state. She has been married for over 34 years and resides in Southlake. Her daughter, Hannah, formerly a student at Carroll Senior High School, recently graduated with a degree in Engineering from Stanford University in California. Dana continues to be an avid supporter of the Southlake Dragons.

Dana primarily practices family law, including but not limited to custody, divorce, termination, adoption, and marital property agreements.  She also provides legal services in wills/probate, employment law, and general business formation and civil litigation.

Dana is licensed to practice in the states of Texas and Washington, as well as in the Federal Court, Northern District of Texas.  She is also a member of the Northeast Tarrant County Bar Association, and the Northeast Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association. She has over 24 years of experience practicing law.

Dana has an excellent reputation and is known in the community and among her peers for providing quality, individualized service and attention to clients needing services. She was voted a “TOP ATTORNEY” by her peers and featured in the Fort Worth Magazine in 2009-2015 and 2018-2019 in the areas of Family Law.  In 2019, she was also awarded a “Top Attorney” of the greater Tarrant County area in 2019 by the 360 West magazine as selected from a peer-based poll.

In addition, Dana was featured in the 2018 Edition of Society Life’s “Who is Who in Business,” and was also selected as Southlake Alignable’s Small Business Person of the Year for 2018.

Dana maintains strong ties with her community and actively pursues aspirations of worldwide harmony, benevolence and goodwill.  Formerly serving as a Secretary, Dana currently serves as President of the Southlake Rotary Club where members volunteer their time and resources in various local and international service projects, including the fight to end polio worldwide, which is rapidly approaching total eradication.

Rotary’s annual Department of Public Safety (DPS) Appreciation Event honoring area public servants/first responders is another project near and dear to Dana’s heart.  Held annually in Southlake Town Square, Dana diligently works to raise money/gifts from area merchants awarded to Southlake’s Officer/First Responder of the Year.  She works with her fellow Rotarians in serving burgers, BBQ, hotdogs and sandwiches to no less than 400 area citizens at the DPS event. The Club was also able to award $6,000 in scholarships to four children of DPS employees.

Other Rotary projects of which Dana is actively involved includes facilitating the distribution of dictionaries to area elementary school students and helping to Keep Southlake Beautiful, a trash pick-up project.

Dana appreciates Rotary’s mission statement of ‘service before self’ and intends to continue working on charitable service projects including honoring first public servants/responders, bolstering wounded warriors and reinforcing other area service groups, including GRACE, the Community Storehouse, and Metroport Meals on Wheels, which provides support to families and individuals in crisis. She is very honored and gratified to serve as a Rotary board member and Incoming President of a club that has been recognized as the Rotary Club of the Year for small clubs in Rotary District 5790.

Dana also serves as a Board Officer/Secretary for the North Texas Shield Foundation, Inc. (NTSFI) a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, which provides the Department of Public Safety or the police officers and firefighters of a particular community ‘Peace of Mind.’  Co-Founded by local renowned jeweler Pieter Andries and retired police chief officer of Southlake Marlin Price, NTSFI works with families to help with any costs that the family may not be able to afford.   Specifically, NTSFI provides the Chief of Police or Fire Chief of an area community a check for $5000-$10,000 at the first request, instantly and immediately,  to  help  with  the needs  of a fallen police officer’s or firefighter’s family, such as airline/travel costs to bring in family members.

Dana is also a member of several area women’s professional networking groups, including Grapevine’s Women Who Wined Down on Wednesdays and Together We Shine.  Her role in these initiatives include forming business relationships, assisting other members with business opportunities and contributing and presenting informational seminars for other women in the area.

What We Do

At the Law Office of Dana L. White, PLLC, we know that every family situation is unique and presents its own distinctive set of legal and practical challenges. We approach your case ready to think outside the box and craft creative solutions that meet your specific needs.  We are particularly experienced in high net worth and difficult asset issues, as well as high-conflict and complicated child custody cases. As a fully-committed family law office, we are supportive of anybody who wants to serve the best interests of the child, be they the mother, father, grandparent or other family member or interested party.

Dana L. White has experience and is specially trained to practice Collaborative Law.  While traditional litigation is always an option, divorcing clients may choose to resolve their legal disputes through the Collaborative Law Method.  Collaborative Law has become a viable alternative to traditional divorce litigation around the country.  Many Texas attorneys are now using it in their family law practices, not only for divorce but for other family law disputes.

Attorney in Southlake, Westlake, and Roanoke, TXIn Collaborative Law the parties resolve their differences outside the courtroom, in a private and less adversarial setting, with the help of specially-trained professionals. This process acknowledges the emotional needs and goals of each spouse. Instead of having to follow a timetable dictated by the court, the parties have the opportunity to schedule meeting times.  Further, the divorcing parties will reach an agreement that is tailored to meet their own needs instead of being forced to accept a one-size-fits-all solution that may be unsatisfactory to everyone involved.

Collaborative Law is based upon more than 30 years of research and the model is closely followed by the professionals involved. This is not the same thing as an “uncontested” divorce or kitchen-table settlement.  The Collaborative attorneys and other professionals adhere to strict protocols as well as the statutory rules of the Texas Family Code.

Many people confuse Mediation with Collaborative Law. Mediation is simply a tool that is used during the litigation process in an attempt to settle the case prior to final trial.  With both attorneys present, the professional mediator tries to facilitate a binding agreement between the parties and is often successful.  However, the parties are not able to “achieve a divorce” simply by going to mediation.  In Collaborative Law, a team of specially-trained professionals handles all aspects of the divorce, from beginning to end.  Financial experts, mental health professionals, and attorneys combine their efforts and expertise in order to provide individualized attention and specialized care.

At the Law Office of Dana L. White, PLLC, we know that Collaborative Law may not be right for everyone who needs to resolve a family law dispute, so we offer levels of traditional litigation as well as Collaborative Law.  In fact, only a fraction of our divorces is currently done using this method. The parties to a Collaborative divorce typically spend less money, experience less trauma in the process and are better able to interact and co-parent their children after the divorce than high-conflict litigants.

To be successful in the Collaborative process, both spouses must totally commit to the process, and each should hire his or her own attorney who has been trained and is experienced in Collaborative Law.  It is certainly something to consider, and for those interested in this process, during our consultation, we will provide an information packet that includes names and phone numbers of other collaboratively-trained attorneys for the divorcing spouse to consider.
